Dr Johnny Goodwin announced as editor-in chief of The Journal of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Dr Johnny Goodwin was recently announced as the editor-in-chief of The Journal of Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Established in 1989, The Journal of Child & Adolescent Mental Health aims to contribute towards the development of a robust and inclusive knowledge base for child and adolescent mental health across diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. To this end the Journal seeks to promote coverage, representation and dissemination of high-quality international research that traverses high, middle and low income contexts.

Dr Margaret Murphy appointed to the Board of Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) by Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly and elected Chair of Midwives Committee. Dr Margaret Murphy was nominated by Minister for Education, Simon Harris, to the Board of NMBI and appointed by Minister for Health, Stephen Donnolly, in January 2023. In April 2023, she was elected as Chair of the statutory Midwives Committee. The Midwives Committee provides advice to the Board in relation to all matters pertaining to midwifery practice, which the Board considers when performing functions in relation to midwifery practice.

Dr Elaine Lehane Receives Irish Research Council (IRC) Research Ally Award In its 7th year, the Irish Research Council (IRC) Researcher of the Year awards commend the very best of awardees and alumni who are making highly significant and valuable contributions to knowledge, society, culture, and innovation. One of the 4 award categories, the Research Ally Award, honours the role of research mentors, supervisors, research officers, and support staff across the Irish higher education and research system (whether funded by the IRC or not) in supporting, growing, and sustaining the research community. Postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, academic and research-active staff are invited to nominate the allies who have supported their work and careers and contributed to the betterment of the Irish research ecosystem. Dr Elaine Lehane, Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, was one of three UCC recipients of this national research award for 2023.
