Sigma European Stipend Award for ANP, Dr Emily Lockwood
to be a keynote speaker on her research area of ANP and autonomy, organisational culture and gender considerations. The awards and recognitions committee have since decided that, at the 7th Sigma European Biennial Conference at Bournemouth University, England from 26-28th June 2024 “Promoting Global Nursing: Education, Research and Practice to meet tomorrow’s health and care needs”, they would like to mention Dr Emily B Lockwood as the recipient of these research grant stipends. The chair of the national planning committee will announce this in the Bournemouth program. Selected References: Lockwood et al., 2021 An Exploration of An exploration of the levels of clinical autonomy of advanced nurse practitioners: A narrative literature review. Dr Lockwood’s PhD used a mixed methods design including the initial psychometric development of the scale. As well as utilising a validated scale and thematic analysis of all ANPs in Ireland. Chapters Coordinating Committee Chair, Governance Committee, Leadership Succession Committee, and Regional Chapters Coordinating Committee. The committee mentors and selects future sigma nurse leaders. Serving as an international leader for Sigma is a rewarding experience and fosters international partnerships with diverse nurse leaders, enabling collaboration across multiple continents. It was with great delight, on behalf of the Sigma European Awards & Recognitions committee, that Dr Emily B Lockwood, Registered ANP of paediatric and adults in emergency nursing with many years practicing and a UCC Lecturer in general nursing and advanced nursing practice, was selected as the recipient for the Sigma European grant stipend 2024. The Sigma European Awards and Recognitions committee based this on Dr Lockwood’s application of adhering to the criteria given and the significant impact Dr Lockwood’s research has made on the nursing profession both nationally and internationally. Dr Lockwood was a project lead that developed and implemented the very first ANP service in all Ireland outside of Dublin in 2004/5. Her research has led to invitations globally Professor Cornally Elected to Serve on International Sigma Committee Professor Cornally secured an elected position, by ballot at the 47th Biennial Convention in Texas in November, on the Leadership Succession Standing Committee of Sigma International 2-year term 2024-2026 - one of the largest global nursing societies (>150,000 members). The Leadership Succession Committee (LSC) solicits nominations for several leadership positions, including President-elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Director, Regional
