Impact Stories: The Broader Context

Potential for International Research collaborations Following a recent visit to India in Jan 2019 by Dr. Seán Kelleher, new possibilities for potential research collaborations with the M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research, Bangalore (affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka) are being explored, particularly in the area of Chronic Illness and Mental Health. The M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education & Research are recognised as one of the pioneers and leaders in the field of nursing education in Karnataka since its inception in 1987.

ITT 4th year MHN students also attended as well as a number of UCC BSc MHN students, who registered individually. ‘ In a long career, it stands out as one of the most inspiring, challenging and important conferences I have attended and spoken at. The range and diversity of both delegates and contributors and the quality of the presentations and debate both really stood out for me. The issues we covered are of growing importance, not just because a mental health perspective is so crucial, but because the whole field of mad studies bears witness to and illuminates so many of the challenges we face – as a society, as human beings. It was an honour to take part and I look forward to next year and many more years ’.
