Team from the School of Nursing and Midwifery Win Best Overall Business Idea at UCC Start Up Lab Event Following an intensive 7-week programme with UCC’s Start Up Lab Event, future entrepreneurs presented their business plans to a panel of investors on the 22 nd of November. The award for best overall business idea was presented to a team from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, comprising Dr Brendan Noonan, Mr Con O’Keefe, and Dr Johnny Goodwin, who presented their eCAD project. The eCAD is an app-based version of the current NMBI paper-based CAD, or competency assessment document. The e-CAD is proposed as a flexible, inclusive, sustainable, easy-to-use, one-click submission, cost-effective app, and will be available across all platforms. The eCAD will include user-friendly functionality, such as voice-to-text and text-to-voice, in addition to a colourful easy-to-read menu. UCC’s School of Nursing and Midwifery is the Top School in Ireland according to Shanghai Rankings TheSchool ofNursingandMidwifery, UniversityCollegeCork isdelighted to be ranked number one in Ireland and in the top 75 schools globally according to Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) rankings. UCC is first in Ireland according to the Shanghai rankings for Clinical Medicine, Public Health and Nursing and joint-first for both Dentistry and Pharmacy. The Shanghai GRAS rankings use a range of objective academic indicators and third-party data to measure the performance of world universities in respective subjects, including research output (Q1), research influence (CNCI), international collaboration (IC), research quality (Top), and international academic awards (Award). Notably, the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University College Cork is also ranked number one in Ireland and in the top 50 schools globally according to QS Subject Rankings.
