Well done to the UCC team (including Gretchen Jordaan, Carol Condon, Patricia O’ Regan, Nuala Walshe, Corina Naughton) involved in coordinating the conference, speaking at the conference and the UCC delegates that attended.
Sim-Versity went live on the 24th June 2020, it is an international collaboration of health professionals, experts by experience, and student participants with a common interest in diversity and simulation-based education. The conference is a culmination of a 3 year project funded by Erasmus+ 2017 Key Action Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education Fund through the British Council. The project incorporates academic partners from United Kingdom, Finland, & Slovenia as well as the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University College Cork. This EU project aims to optimize patient safety and patient benefit, by integrating cultural competence into simulation- based education through the rehearsal of skills in a simulated, authentic environment. Arguably, culturally competent health care professionals are better prepared to respond to patients with diverse needs relating to, for example, their gender, ethnicity, disability and age.
