CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE/PRESENTATIONS

Oral Presentation on Virtual Reality Simulation in Nursing and Midwifery Education at Sigma’s 47th Biennial Convention Dr Mohamad Saab presented about his study titled “Virtual Reality Simulation in Nursing and Midwifery Education: A Usability Study” at Sigma’s 47th Biennial Convention on 28 November 2023. In this study, 43 nursing and midwifery students engaged in one of five virtual reality (VR) scenarios depicting a deteriorating patient. They then completed a survey exploring the usability and acceptability of VR simulation and assessing their level of satisfaction with their experience engaging with the scenario of choice. Findings were overwhelmingly positive, warranting the exploration of ways to integrate innovative VR technology in teaching and learning in the future. This project was funded under the UCC College of Medicine and Health Learning and Teaching Awards. A paper from this project is published in Computer, Informatics, Nursing: CIN. DOI: 10.1097/CIN.0000000000001010 Lead and Team Members: Dr Mohamad M Saab (Lead), Megan McCarthy, Billy O’Mahony, Eoghan Cooke, Professor Josephine Hegarty, David Murphy, Nuala Walshe, Dr Brendan Noonan
