BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING STUDIES

About the Programme The BSc Nursing Studies is a part-time, post-registration degree for registered nurses, which is offered annually. This course is set at level eight of the National Framework of Qualifications (National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI), 2003). On successful completion of this course, students will be awarded a National University of Ireland Bachelor of Science (BSc Nursing Studies) degree. Course Delivery Applicants can choose to complete the BSc Nursing Studies programme over 1 academic year (60 credits) or over 2 academic years (30 credits per year). Students taking the one-year option will attend university for approximately 40 days in one academic year with lectures given over three block weeks and a one day per week release for the remaining time. Students taking the two- year option will attend college depending on the core and elective modules selected to study in years 1 and 2. Entry Requirements Entrants will be Registered Nurses or Midwives recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or be entitled to be so registered. Applicants from outside Ireland must hold active registration as a nurse in the professional register of their country of residence. Applicants who are under 23 years of age must satisfy the minimum entry requirements of the College of Medicine and Health, UCC.
