HIGHER DIPLOMA IN MIDWIFERY

About the Programme The Higher Diploma in Midwifery is a full-time programme for qualified general nurses. The programme leads to registration with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland as a registered midwife. Successful applicants receive a contract of employment from the HSE for the duration of the programme which leads to registration as a midwifery with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. Course Delivery Students take 50 credits in Year 1 and 40 credits in Year 2. The course is full-time and offered in partnership with Cork University Maternity Hospital. Entry Requirements Hold professional registration as a general nurse with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or be eligible for such registration. Course Duration The programme duration is 18 months and is offered on a continuous basis with students commencing the programme in either September or March.
How to apply: Programme is advertised by the HSE. Application is then online at www.pac. ie/ucc followed by interview with the National Recruitment Service (NRS). Interested applicants are advised to apply early to ensure being offered a place on the programme. Cost: EU candidates will receive full funding for the programme. Other candidates will need to contact the NRS for eligibility criteria.
