School of Nursing and Midwifery Researchers Contributing to Maternal and Child Health Outcomes

‘WordPower’ is a scheme launched by Saint Vincent de Paul (SVP) in November 2019. They published a ‘Guide to reading with your child’, which included book packs and suggestions for reading with children and incorporating language development in to everyday life. Dr Patricia Leahy-Warren and Dr Helen Mulcahy from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCC were involved in the project since June 2019, and drew on their extensive maternal and child health research to support the project. The initiative contained advice on sharing the magic of reading with children. To celebrate the launch SVP posted reading tips and advice online.
