Dr Mohamad M. Saab and Prof Hegarty Received “Early Detection of Cancer Project” Funding from the Health Service Executive, National Cancer Control Programme

The Team: Dr Mohamad M. Saab (Lead Researcher), Dr Caroline Kilty, Dr Serena Fitzgerald, Dr Brendan Noonan, Ms Maidy O’Brien, and Prof Josephine Hegarty (Co-Lead Researcher)

The “Early Detection of Cancer Project” funding from the Health Service Executive, National Cancer Control Programme will enable Dr Saab and the team to explore lung cancer awareness, help-seeking intentions for lung cancer symptoms, and preferred strategies for learning about lung cancer among at-risk individuals living in high-incidence areas in Carlow and North Dublin. This project also involves co-designing and exploring the feasibility of a targeted multi-media based public awareness intervention aimed at the early detection of lung cancer as well as reviewing the most recent evidence pertaining to the early detection of lung cancer. The project started in November 2019 and will be completed in June 2020.
