LEARNING to live: Improving the Quality of Life for Vulnerable Migrant Students through Integrated Digital Technology Enhanced Support and Transformative Action in Higher Education
The Story: The LEARNING to Live project was awarded funding through the Erasmus + strategic partnership funding for higher education. This project aims to develop a suite of technological and non-technological resources for vulnerable migrant students in a higher education context and challenge the barriers to achievement and success. An action research methodology is planned which will include the contribution of “experts by experience” and the co-production of all resulting resources. The main outputs will include (A) An integrated digital literacy and language toolkit, (B) A multi-media web- hub and (C) Associated mobile applications. The project team aims to publish and disseminate project outputs through peer review publications and presentations at relevant conferences. The first international meeting of the
group was hosted in UCC in November 2018. The project runs from September 2019-September 2022. This award builds on the collaboration’s 2017 Erasmus + strategic partnership for the Sim-Versity project.
The Team: UCC team - Nuala Walshe (UCC lead) Ms. Carol Condon, Dr Angela Flynn and Dr Patricia O’Regan. International collaborators - England (University of Bradford- Project lead), Finland (Savonia University of Applied Sciences), Spain (Universitat Rovira I Virgili) and Slovenia (University of Maribor). Dr Karl Kitching (Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion UCC will act as an expert panel advisor to the project.
