Programme for Postgraduate Students: The PhD preparation programme focusses on the development of key skills to ensure postgraduate students are well equipped to begin their doctoral studies. Participants will develop transversal skills which are essential for doctoral education such as writing for academic purposes, managing data, publishing in international journals, communication skills and networking. It also includes specific language development skills and the postgraduate student develops key skills and knowledge to support their smooth transition into doctoral studies as well as offering participants the opportunity to enjoy campus life in University College Cork and sample the Irish culture.

On completion of the course participants will receive: • A certificate acknowledging professional development in English language proficiency. • A certificate acknowledging professional development in integrating research, teaching and learning. • Access to links and archives that will sustain their research work in this field. • The course also provides a pathway to the online European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) certified programme in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

Students can also avail of additional focussed disciplinary inputs with the School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCC through engagement in skills training with academic staff within the School and its advanced simulation centre or participating in clinical field visits.

Such programmes would be costed based upon the needs of course participants and would ordinarily cost ¤800 per week.
