Notably Dr. Lydia Sapouna, School of Applied Social Studies and Dr. Harry Gijbels (retired senior lecturer), Catherine McAuley School of Nursing and Midwifery in association with Critical Voices Network are hosting the 11t h Annual Critical Voices Conference 2019. Innovations in service delivery, in education, and in activism are explored, set within the wider context of critical debates on contested areas in mental health. Over 600 delegates attend this conference on an annual basis. The 2019 conference includes a public lecture by Robert Whitaker, acclaimed American author and journalist and the launch of a book: Inside Out, Outside In: Transforming Mental Health Practices edited by Harry Gijbels, Lydia Sapouna and Gary Sidley. The School regularly hosts Master classes and research methods seminars to help sustain the continued development of the capacity and competency to conduct impactful research.

The Department of Health launches an implementation guide and toolkit to support those involved in the development and implementation of national clinical guidelines at the School of Nursing and Midwifery. A Masterclass on implementation science and theory was hosted in parallel with the launch
