UCC SONM 25 Year Book

UCC / School of Nursing and Midwifery

Research Conferences An Annual Research Conference was introduced in 2000 and to date 20 Conferences have taken place. Up to 130 nurse and midwives participate each year. The listing of conference presentations illustrates the range of topics presented and the movement to presentations of research undertaken by individuals and groups (Appendix I). Major International speakers have participated, and the qualifications of the presenters have changed over time indicting progress in attaining research degrees in nursing and midwifery. This conference has facilitated the sharing of perspectives on evidence based practice which ultimately articulates a greater focus on person centred care and optimal patient outcomes either directly or indirectly. The school has consciously provided an open forum for potential presenters to submit their abstracts with the conference theme planned around the accepted oral and poster abstracts.
