The team looks at whether changes in staffing will impact on the experience of patients in EDs, such as the length of time waiting for care. Based on the study findings, we make a number of recommendations to improve the staffing of wards and emergency departments in Ireland. This research implements an intervention and measures the impact using a pre- post-test design. • Evaluation Study of the Impact of Implementing a Draft Policy to Develop Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) to Meet Service Need. • An EU grant Horizon 2020 funding - Research and Innovation Framework Programme Grant to implement the Magnet4Europe attracting over 4 million as part of a consortium of experts in the area of workforce planning. The study is titled: Magnet4Europe: Improving Health and Wellbeing of Health Professionals and Patients. The research programme develops and implements a theory-based organizational redesign in 60 hospitals in 5 European countries with stakeholder co-designed adaptations for Europe, one-to-one twinning of intervention with Magnet hospitals, and a learning collaborative including stakeholders. The intervention is designed to achieve improved mental and physical health, and significant reductions in burnout, absenteeism, presenteeism, and turnover among doctors and nurses while also improving patient outcomes. • Teaching Evidence Based Practice to Health Care Professionals in Ireland and the development of a competency framework for clinical effectiveness education. This was a project commissioned by the National Patient Safety Office, Department of Health Ireland. A interprofessional research team (led by Dr. Elaine Lehane) conducted a multiphase project to develop a competency framework for clinical effectiveness education.
