PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT STAFF

From the establishment of the Department of Nursing Studies through to the development to the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the Administrative Team that include Office staff, IT, AV, Instructional Designer, Allocations and CSSRC staff have provided invaluable support for all initiatives. The first administrative staff member was Ms. Regina Murphy who continues to work in the School as School Manager along with Ms. Therese Ahern, who has been PA to the three Heads of School. Over the 25 years of the School’s existence, there have been many years of cutbacks and employment embargoes, which presented challenges for both academic and professional staff. Following negotiations with central services, the School was very fortunate to be able to recruit from its own budget the services of an Accountant Ms. Colette O’Sullivan and Ms. Jane O’Leary, a Chief Audio-Visual Officer, Mr. Tony Archer, and IT Systems Administrator, Mr. Thomas Erlandsson. The holders of these posts have provided invaluable services to the School in the development and support of the CSSRC and the School in general. The advancement of technology and changes in work practices, for example, electronic receipting and now e-submissions has assisted in the managing the expanding workload. Working through the administrative structures of the University, School, Health Service Providers and accreditation board NMBI, has stood the students and staff in good stead. The School has been the pilot lead for many new projects introduced in UCC, for example, HRIS, FEC, Agresso, PAC, all of which are testament to the ability of the administrative team to embrace development in a very busy working environment. The administrative team have a reputation for upholding University policy and ensuring records and data are accurate, which has been commented on reports following HR Audit, Finance Audits, Quality Reviews and accreditation body reviews. This is no mean feat for a relatively small group of individuals and their dedication to the delivering of an excellent service is acknowledged.
