Peer Support Epistemological Position Literature Review Mx Ryan Goulding & Dr Aine O Donovan of the Mental Health Research Cluster and academics within the School of Nursing & Midwifery were awarded a research project from the Office of Mental Health Engagement and Recovery on behalf of the Peer Support Epistemological Working Group. This project aims to explore the concept of lived experience, and its application to health care. and to understand and explore the evidence base on how people with lived experience, within and external to mental health, is embedded into health care services. Through the use of Principle-Based Concept Analysis methodologies a working definition of the concept of lived experience will be identified. In addition, a Scoping Review will be conducted to identify the practical uses of peer support and family peer support, the enablers and challenges of using peer support and family peer support, and the views of peer supports workers on how to protect the essence of lived experience.
