Erasmus Funded Blended Intensive Programme – The Future of Midwifery Care Six BSc Midwifery students (Vuyelwa Lisa Ndlov, Ellie Lambe Sisk, Niamh Buggy, Sophie Leenders, Sarah Lynch, Kate Kelly) travelled to School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCLL, Belgium with their lecturers Dr Geraldine McLoughlin and Dr Margaret Murphy on an Erasmus funded Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). The group from UCC joined with midwifery colleagues from Belgium and University of Savonia (Kuopio), Finland for a weeklong training programme on pan-European midwifery education and training. The Future of Midwifery Care - Challenges of the Midwife in the Changing World was the concept for consideration. Students collaborated with their European colleagues to explore this concept and present their research, experiential learning, and consideration for midwifery to the cohort. Students were innovative in their presentation using podcasts, TikToks, and interactive art to disseminate their information. This was the first occasion that students from UCC were involved in a Blended Intensive Programme which helps to foster European wide collaboration. The midwifery teams hope to travel to Finland in 2024 with a return visit to UCC planned for 2025. Lead and Team Members: Dr Geraldine (Geri) Mc Loughlin UCC, Dr Margaret Murphy UCC, Sylvie Dewaele UCLL Belgium, Nadja Van Endert UCLL Belgium, Anna-Kasia Kokkonen Savonia-AMK Finland, Paivi Hoffren Savonia-AMK Finland
