CENTRE FOR THE INTEGRATION OF RESEARCH, TEACHING & LEARNING (CIRTL)

University College Cork is one of the lead institutes in Ireland for Teaching and Learning. The Centre for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) in UCC has coordinated accredited courses in Teaching and Learning since 2004. The name CIRTL reflects the Centre’s particular expertise and reputation in research informed teaching and learning practices. For further details, visit: www.ucc.ie/en/cirtl/professional-development/ internationalscholars/ Programme for Visiting Lecturers: The Programme for Visiting Lecturers is a unique offering that combines support for integrating research, teaching and learning with English language development, as well as offering participants the opportunity to enjoy campus life in University College Cork and sample the

Irish culture. Participants can attend an intense two-week Summer School course in Cork. On completion of the course participants will receive: On completion of the course participants will receive: • A certificate acknowledging professional development in English language proficiency. • A certificate acknowledging professional development in integrating research, teaching and learning. • Access to links and archives that will sustain their research work in this field. • The course also provides a pathway to the online European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) certified programme in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. • Participants in the 9-month course would be expected to engage in research into teaching and learning, and to work towards a scholarly

publication. Topics to be explored in the Summer School include: • Key transformations shaping Higher Education, e.g., digital education, internationalisation, and sustainability • Curriculum design for innovative and impactful student learning • Fostering Global reach and internationalisation of the curriculum • Digital transformations in Higher Education • Current topics and trends in HEI in Europe including Academic integrity, Sustainable Development Goals, Micro-credentials, and Generative AI • Higher Education leadership with a focus on strategy development and enhancing international reputation.

Students can also avail of additional focussed disciplinary inputs with the School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCC through engagement in skills training with academic staff within the School and its advanced simulation centre or participating in clinical field visits.

Such programmes would be costed based upon the needs of course participants and would ordinarily cost €800 per week.

*Additional Disciplinary Specific Sessions can be arranged to complement the CIRTL Programmes outlined above
